For Believers is looking for a Senior Merchandise Planner to join this fast-growing International Sportswear brand for Men. The high-quality collections are colorful, innovative and are characterized using unique and self-designed prints and artwork. From the new HQ in Amsterdam, the collections are designed and sold to more than 2000 leading retailers. In more than 15 different countries. In addition, the company has 35 brand stores in various major cities in the Netherlands and abroad.


The Team

This unique and exciting opportunity for a Senior Merchandise Planner is based in Amsterdam and sits within the Product Strategy team. This team gives strategical direction sets objectives on collection KPI’s, drives change and monitors results, as well building a closer link between countries, retail, e-com and head office to fulfill consumers needs by creating the framework for profitable assortments.

The Merchandise Planner is the internal partner for data-driven collection planning and decision making. Long-term strategic growth must be translated in short-term and seasonal objectives in a wholesale channel driven environment.  The business will consider candidates from core retail and wholesale planning backgrounds with product knowledge. This position will be working across their growing e-Com, wholesale and retail-team and gives candidates the opportunity of learning the expanding e-commerce side of planning.


The Position

The Senior Merchandise Planner plans the seasonal range plan that are reflective of the company’s strategies and KPI’s. You will run deep analyses on collection performance and present the conclusions in storylines to internal teams. You will work closely with the designers, the product development team on collection performance and range plan targets. Product knowledge is key and product development experience is a pre. You will be involved and updated on product strategies and process improvement projects from the Product Strategy team.


Your key responsibilities will include

  • Seasonal planning in alignment to seasonal and yearly targets, on growth drivers, merchandise flow and optimal balance product fashion ability mix
  • Understanding of the processes and development of multiple seasons
  • Executing continuous check and balance on seasonal collection development, forecasts, cooperate with Merchandisers, Product Development, Buying and Planning.
  • Provide commercial analysis of sales forecasts to make strategic recommendations and highlight potential risks in line with sales plans.
  • Converting conclusions from analyses into a presentation to present to the teams
  • Obtain Sales Team forecasts on-time in line with set buy schedule.
  • Provide full sales forecast information in a timely manner to the Design team.
  • Prepare and complete proposals for monthly buys by SKU level.
  • Manage OTB budgets, liaising with Finance.
  • Attending meetings such as pricing-, and design meetings
  • Updating and maintaining periodic master data reports and workbooks


The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal candidates will have the ability to adapt to various operational systems to maximize output of essential data analysis. Strong numerate, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities. Product knowledge is key and product development experience is a pre.

  • HBO-level or bachelor’s in finance/business/statistics or similar
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, pivot tables, understanding how big datasets are build
  • Data-driven and analytical mindset with affinity to the product
  • 2-3 years planning experience in a commercial fashion industry
  • Prior understanding of merchandising and merchandise planning is preferred
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with ad hoc requests and deadlines
  • Proactive attitude, curious approach, enthusiasm, you bring the team to the next level
  • You take full ownership with regards to planning. You feel and act responsible for achieved numbers. You can give accurate advice based on analysis and facts
  • You are motivated to implement new processes and structures
  • An effective communicator, able to manage expectations with different stakeholders and prioritize during conflicting deadlines
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English, both written as verbal
