Dutch online market is booming
The Dutch online market is booming: it has seen a 19% rise
in purchases for the first quarter in 2015. Dutch consumers made 35.6 million online purchase transactions, compared
to 30 million in the same period last year, according to latest research on online
consumer spending.
Eighty percent of online purchases are products like clothing
and electronics. The remaining twenty
percent are services like holidays and insurance. The largest growth in
purchases was seen in the sales of toys and event tickets. In total, Dutch
online shoppers spend € 4.4 billion
online in the first quarter of 2015, compared to € 3.8 billion last year.
the number of online buyers is increasing as well. In the
first quarter of 2015, 78 percent of the Dutch population aged 15 years and
older made one or more online purchases. This number is an increase of 4%
